Problem / Simple Solution

History

Working behind the scenes for 20 years, Tony Bright is no stranger to innovations. Serving as an Industrial Engineering Consultant, many of the products you use everyday was manufactured by the equipment that Bright designed.

During a visit to an auto parts store, Bright examined the tire chains hanging on the display in front of him. "Why does anyone bother with these things, anyway?" he wondered to himself. "They’re difficult to put on, won’t stay put, and damage your vehicle when they come off."

"At that moment, a light bulb went off in my head, and I determined that I wanted to develop

a better automotive traction device," says Bright.

The tire chains are cumbersome, but mud/snow tires and other traction alternatives for inclement conditions--have many problems of their own. These tires rely on protuberances, or knobbies, to provide traction in sand, snow, or mud. But when the grooves become filled with a solid, they no longer provide the traction they’re intended to provide. After looking into other alternative traction devices, I.E Spider Spikes cost between $400-$600 and Roto-Grip $1500! Mattracks the ultimate trax conversion, can cost between $25,000 & $40,000 per set! Bright says- "There are much room and demand in the market."

For an innovator like Bright, the dilemma sparked a search for a solution.

"Though it took considering many different angles, I was able to use my knowledge of material handling, conveyors, and hydraulics to find an answer to the problem." The first set of GoClaws was made on Bright's kitchen table. Not having the fastening system perfected at this time, he used coat hangers, rope and other primitive means to somehow get the trax around the tire, but even so, he was able to prove the concept through testing as he drove a 2 wheel drive truck over a cross-country ski course in 18" of fresh snow! This he says was the eureka moment, as he got real excited and actually knew at that time, that he had something that really works!

Flex Trax is now Owned and Operated by: Patent Development Company, LLC the Inventor / CEO & Founder of the Flex Trax Technology

Flex-Trax was a privately held company which was founded by Tony Bright / Inventor in 1997. Tony sold controlling interest in 2004 and got his baby back as he regained control in the Fall of 2010.

Current Status

Flex-Trax now continues to design, develop and market a wide array of Advanced Traction Systems™ , and sells its products to retailers, wholesale distributors and now recently direct to consumers at its websites, www.advancedtractionsystems.com, www.goclaws.com, www.snoclaws.com, www.snobootz.com & www.flextrax.com. Flex-Trax currently services specialty markets in the United States, Canada, Ireland, France, Spain and Australia. We anticipate entry into the European markets with our Authorized Distributors within the next year.
